Not because we don't care. Because it means researching what a wind-up radio costs, working out how much water a family actually needs, finding food that keeps for five years, and placing six separate orders. Somewhere between the third browser tab and the fourth delivery, life gets in the way.
So the two options end up being: do nothing, or panic-buy tins the week everyone else does.
